odyssey 10-4 bar review

When searching for a tall, tough, and totally dialed BMX handlebar, the Odyssey 10-4 bar is built for you.

This bar isn’t just high – it’s the tallest in Odyssey’s lineup, designed specifically for riders who need more height and crave better control and leverage.

Is that you?

With a towering 10″ rise and a solid 30″ width, it creates a spacious and powerful feel that’s perfect for taller riders or anyone looking to boost their bike’s comfort and handling.

Of course, if the width is too much for you, simply cut it.

I run my bars at around 28″.

Whether you’re hucking big gaps, blasting transitions, or just want your setup to trust 110%, this bar gives you that pro-level cockpit straight out of the box.

Odyssey 10-4 Bar Review

1. 10-4 Bar Key Features

odyssey 10-4 bmx bar features

The 10-4 isn’t just another tall handlebar – it’s a serious upgrade for riders needing more space and leverage on the front.

Odyssey went all-in with strength, comfort, and durability here.

This bar is built to withstand the biggest drops, gnarliest slams, and longest sessions, all while keeping your cockpit feeling solid.

If you’re tired of flexy bars or setups that feel too low, this one will instantly change the game.

  • 1.8/1.3mm thick, multi-butted tubing
  • Multi-butted traditional 7/8″ crossbar
  • Large radius bends for improved strength and durability
  • Post-weld heat-treated for maximum toughness
  • Covered by Odyssey’s solid defect guarantee

Note: I’ve never talked to Odyssey about where the name comes, but “10” likely stands for the raise and “4” for the upsweep.

2. Odyssey 10-4 Bar Geometry & Specs

odyssey 10-4 bar geometry specifications

With a full 10” rise and a beefy 30” width, the Odyssey 10-4 bar gives you more room to move and more leverage on every trick.

Fun fact: I noticed that nose manuals are easier with a 10″ bar. As soon as I switched to a 9.65″ rise bar, they became harder.

But, depending on your riding style, you’ll likely need to cut it.

For me, 30″ is too wide. Sure, you can still do barspins, but they just don’t feel as natural as they do with a narrower bar.

28″ width for bar wins for me.

Moreover, the 11° backsweep and 4° upsweep feel natural in the hands, reducing wrist strain while helping with stability and control during heavy riding.

However, since there aren’t many bars on the market with a 4° upsweep, you might need a session or two to get used to it.

But it feels nice!

Whether you’re riding a big frame or just want a taller front end, these specs are purpose-built to keep you feeling locked in and comfy.

  • Rise: 10″
  • Width: 30″
  • Backsweep: 11°
  • Upsweep: 4°
  • Weight: 35.6 oz (1,008 g)
  • Price: $89.99

3. Ride Feel & Performance

The 10-4 bar is a dream for riders who want height without sacrificing strength.

The geometry keeps your front end feeling dialed and stable, and the extra upsweep gives a more natural wrist angle for tall setups.

It’s ideal for riders who feel cramped on lower bars or anyone with a larger frame looking for a better cockpit fit.

This bar feels solid through the roughest landings, barspins, or when you’re just pumping through transitions.

The build is beefy, but it’s that beefiness that brings confidence.

I also want to mention that this isn’t the lightest 10″ BMX bar on the market.

But Odyssey purposefully built it with slightly thicker tubing to boost the strength. And I’m all about strength!

Note: The S&M Perfect 10 bar is another extremely durable bar.

4. Real Rider Feedback

  • Jake M.: “As a tall rider, this is the only bar that feels right. The height and sweep angles are perfect.”
  • Ricky P.: “I used to run 9.5s but switching to these gave me more control and less back pain. Total game changer.”
  • Tay V.: “Built like a tank. I ride mostly street and these take all the abuse I throw at them.”
  • Chris D.: “The extra upsweep makes a big difference on wrist comfort. They look sick, too.”
  • Andre F.: “Super solid and stiff. These bars don’t flex even on the biggest drops. Worth every penny.”

5. Odyssey 10-4 Bar Potential Downsides

While the Odyssey 10-4 bar delivers a lot of value, there are a couple of things worth considering before you pull the trigger:

  • Higher upsweep than average: The 4° upsweep is steeper than most bars on the market (which typically range between 1–2°). Some riders may love the wrist angle it creates, especially on taller setups, but it might feel awkward if you’re coming from a flatter bar.
  • Too tall for certain setups: With a full 10″ rise, this bar isn’t for everyone. Riders with shorter frames, lower front ends, or a preference for a compact cockpit might find it a bit overwhelming without dialing in the rest of their setup.

Conclusion: Should You Get The Odyssey 10-4 Bar?

If you’re a taller rider or crave more control and comfort on the front, the Odyssey 10-4 bar is an absolute must-have.

This bar is a total game-changer for riders who want to unlock more space, leverage, and confidence on every line they ride.

Backed by Odyssey’s unbeatable reputation and solid warranty, it’s ready to take whatever you throw at it – session after session.

Plus, it’s excellent for all styles of riding!

If you’re ready to level up your ride, don’t wait – get your hands on the 10-4 Bar now and feel the difference on your very next session.
