Cult Half Link Chain (2025 Review)

cult half link bmx chain review

The Cult half link chain is a street rider’s favorite when it comes to dialing in chainstay length and keeping things bombproof.

Designed to make it easier to hit that perfect rear-end setup, this chain also brings solid durability, clean looks, and reliability to the table.

Whether you’re running an 8T driver or just want smoother adjustability, the Cult half link chain delivers.

Plus, the Teflon-coated finish and stamped Cult logos give it that signature style.

And to top it all up, it’s pretty affordable for what it brings to the table.

Ever since a half link chain came out for BMX, I ride nothing else.

I find it a lot stronger, it looks better, plus, it’s much easier to adjust the chainstay (CS) length according to my picky needs.

And Cult’s chain does an epic job.

Cult Half Link Chain Review

1. Build & Features

This chain is Teflon-coated to resist wear and stay smooth.

It’s 1/8″ wide, which makes it ideal for BMX, especially if you’re running bigger sprockets or hitting heavy grinds.

Even if riding a sprocket without a guard, this chain will handle the abuse. (However, I still recommend a sprocket guard if you do a ton of grinds.)

The half link design lets you fine-tune your rear end by half-link increments.

This is perfect if you’re trying to slam your wheel or need that one tiny adjustment to get the rear wheel exactly where you want it.

That’s much more challenging to do with a full link.

One thing to note is that some modern BMX frames have super short dropouts, which makes adjusting the CS length even harder with a full link.

In short, I’ll ride a half link forever, just because it makes my life much easier.

Cult Half Link Chain Features:

  • Stamped Cult logos on every link give it a unique look
  • Compatible with drivers as small as 8T
  • Rounded side plates keep things smooth and help reduce damage during grinding
  • Strong and street-proven design

Pro tip: Not every traditional chain breaker tool fits a half link because the plates on a half link are thicker. Ideally, get the Cult chain breaker tool (it’s also compatible with full link chains).

2. Real Rider Feedback

  • Alexander R. (street rider): “It looks sick in gold, holds up well, and lets me run my chain super tight. Can’t ask for more.”
  • Liam F. (all-around rider): “I switched from a full link chain to this, and it’s been awesome. No more skipping or stretching out after a few months.”
  • Kaitlyn S. (park rider): “Teflon coating really makes a difference, runs smooth even after rain sessions (although I don’t recommend them, lol). And the stamped logos are a nice touch on silver.”
  • Derek V. (tech street rider): “Getting my wheel slammed perfectly was so much easier with this chain. Never going back to a full link chain.”
