Odyssey Calibur Cranks Review (2025)

odyssey calibur cranks

The Odyssey Calibur V2 cranks deliver an impressive balance between strength, durability, and affordability.

Designed as an improved version of Odyssey’s well-known three-piece crankset, the Calibur V2s are stronger, more refined, and built to last.

With post-weld heat-treated chromoly arms, a 48-spline hollow 22mm spindle, and RHD/LHD compatibility, these BMX cranks are engineered for shredders who demand reliability without breaking the bank.

Odyssey Calibur Cranks Review

1. The Caliburs Are Ready For Anything

odyssey calibur cranks review

The Calibur V2 cranks immediately feel solid.

Yes, just by picking them out of the box and handling them in your hands.

You instantly know that these things are meant for business.

From the clean welds to the smooth finish, Odyssey clearly put serious thought into refining the design.

The cranks have a sleek and classic aesthetic, making them stand out on any setup.

They might come only in black, but luckily, it works.

However, a chrome version, for instance, would be sick, too!

Multiple Crank Arm Lengths

One of the major selling points is the availability of multiple crank arm lengths: 160mm, 165mm, 170mm, and 175mm.

This allows riders to choose the best size to match their riding style, whether it’s technical street riding or high-speed trails.

I know I started with 175mm, then switched to 170mm, but later dropped straight to 160mm, and I’ll never go back.

Note: Don’t miss checking my article on the benefits of short BMX cranks.

2. Odyssey Calibur Cranks Features

odyssey calibur cranks features

  • Post-weld heat-treated 4130 chromoly arms: Built for strength and longevity, regardless of how hard you ride.
  • Hollow 22mm, 48-spline chromoly spindle: Lightweight yet incredibly strong. (I seriously think 22mm is more than enough – no need for 24mm crank spindles.)
  • RHD & LHD compatibility: Flexibility for different drive setups (both crank arms have built-in sprocket bolt holes).
  • Sleek, minimalistic design: Aesthetic appeal with no unnecessary bulk. I also like that Odyssey put the main branding on the inside of the arm, keeping it even sleeker.
  • Affordable price point: Caliburs offer high performance without a premium cost, which is probably one of my favorite features. You don’t really need to spend $200 or more on a set of cranks—Caliburs make it happen for way less.

3. How Odyssey Calibur Cranks Ride

The Calibur V2 cranks offer a stiff and responsive feel when pedaling.

They are ideal for power transfers on big gaps and precise technical combos.

Riders who have switched to the 160mm version report that it significantly helps with crankarm grinds while still feeling natural for manuals and spins.

Moreover, many dudes (thanks, Rob, Jim, Jacob, Mike, and Jon) reported to me that they love durability.

Some have ridden these cranks for years without any issues.

They stay tight, resist bending, and handle heavy street abuse like a champ.

The 48-spline spindle provides a secure fit, preventing unwanted movement over time.

Pro tip: When installing them, put some extra grease on the spindle for easily assembly.

4. Real-World Feedback

  • “I’ve had the 160mm Calibur V2s for three years, and they’ve never given up on me. No issues at all!” – Rob C.
  • “The look of these cranks sold me, but the performance kept me riding them. Super strong and reliable.” – Jacob P.
  • “I ride them in 160mm, and they feel great – no looseness, just solid performance.” – Mike M.
