Are you searching for the lightest BMX sprockets?
For some of the dudes out there, every ounce counts. And I totally get it.
Choosing the right sprocket can make a difference if you are looking to lighten your bike.
Hey, one ounce here, one ounce there, and you can quickly get your bike down half a pound (or more!).
From highly affordable forged variations to super strong made-in-the-USA sprockets, you’ll find everyone on this list.
So if you’re looking to upgrade and want to know which sprockets will keep your bike light without compromising durability, you’re in the right place.
This post covers:
Lightest BMX Sprockets
1. Haro Baseline Sprocket
From what I could find, Haro’s Baseline sprocket is one of the lightest and cheapest on the market.
It’s made from forged 6061 aluminum, so it’s strong but light – only 1.7 oz for the 25T!
The classic design is clean, and it doesn’t weigh you down at all. At 6mm thick, it’s sturdy on the spindle, and the 15/16″ bore fits perfectly 24mm crank spindles.
However, for sizes like 22mm and 19mm, you’ll need an adapter – nope, it doesn’t come with the sprocket, which is a bummer.
Still, the Haro Baseline is definitely a steal for the price.
Weight: 1.7 oz
Price: $19.99 (may vary)
2. Colony Endeavour Sprocket
The Colony BMX Endeavour sprocket doesn’t just look awesome; it’s also awesome in terms of durability.
Made from solid 6061 aluminum, it’s built solid without adding much weight – only 0.2 oz heavier than the Haro’s Baseline sprocket.
It has a 23.8mm bore but comes with adapters for 19mm and 22mm spindles, so it’ll fit pretty much any setup.
I love that it’s available in black, polished, and even rainbow if you want to mix it up.
It’s a legit, versatile solution that feels like a great upgrade!
Weight: 1.9 oz
Price: $29.99 (may vary)
3. Fiction Asgard Sprocket
I bet the Fiction dudes are fans of the Nordic mythology, just as I am.
Anyway, the Fiction Asgard sprocket is a sick addition to your bike. It rocks 6061 aluminum, so it’s lightweight but still super tough – only 2 oz for the 25T.
The best part?
It’s got two bolt locations (for extended longevity) and these weight-saving cutouts, so it’s light without sacrificing strength.
It also comes with a 19mm adapter, ready for most setups. It’s a clean upgrade, especially if you want to shave off some weight and keep things smooth.
Weight: 2.0 oz
Price: $19.99 (may vary)
4. Theory Verify Sprocket
The Theory Verify is another very affordable, light sprocket ready for business.
Made from 6061 aluminum, it weighs only 2 oz for 25T but ensures durability for worry-free sessions.
It’s bolt-driven and has adapters for 19mm and 22mm spindles, so it’ll easily fit most setups. And without the adapters, it first 24mm crank spindles.
Plus, it comes in a bunch of color options (red, silver, blue, purple, etc.) so that you can match it to your bike for a more personalized look.
Weight: 2.0 oz
Price: $19.99 (may vary)
5. Alienation Enterprise Sprocket
Honestly, the Alienation Enterprise sprocket is my favorite lightest BMX sprocket.
This thing looks epic, and it’s also CNC machined from 7075 aluminum, so it’s crazy strong. Just want you need when you want to take your riding to the next level.
For a sprocket like this, that tiny bit of extra weight shouldn’t bother you because of how well it’s made.
The Trekkie-inspired design is super sleek, and the offset teeth help with better chain alignment, which is a nice bonus.
The Enterprise sprocket is a solid upgrade if you want something stylish and durable.
Weight: 2.3 oz
Price: $47.99 (may vary)
6. Profile Imperial Sprocket
I think Profile Racing’s Imperial sprocket doesn’t need an introduction.
It’s CNC machined from billet aluminum, so it’s super strong and has this awesome 18-spoke design that helps eliminate flex.
It’s a perfect fit for most 3-pc chromoly cranksets. It’s bolt-on style, so just make sure you have a sprocket bolt handy.
It comes with a 19mm steel insert, so it fits 19mm axles only. Moreover, the bore is 7/8″, which is 22mm, which isn’t as common as the 24mm variation.
At 2.3 oz for the 25T, it’s lightweight but still tough. It’s also made in the USA!
There’s a 23T version if you’re into flatland riding, but for regular riding, the 25T is spot on.
Weight: 2.3 oz
Price: $47.99 (may vary)
7. Stolen Sumo III Sprocket
The Stolen Sumo III sprocket is – hence the name – a beast.
It’s CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, so it’s super tough but still lightweight and affordable.
The design is simple but really strong, and it comes with adapters to fit both 19mm and 22mm spindles, so it’s ready for any setup.
If you run a 24mm crank spindle, no worries; just insert the sprocket without the adapter.
It’s also compatible with the Stolen Thermalite sprocket guard, which you can grab separately if you want extra protection. (Just expect to add another 2.5 oz to your setup if picking a guard for the 25T sprocket.)
Overall, it’s a solid upgrade for anyone looking for strength and reliability.
Weight: 2.3 oz
Price: $29.99 (may vary)
8. Mission Nexus Sprocket
The Mission Nexus sprocket is an excellent addition for anyone who wants to keep the bike weight down but still doesn’t want to spend a lot on a sprocket.
It’s got this sweet web-spoke design that looks cool and keeps it strong and light.
Made from 4.95mm thick 6061 aluminum, it can take a beating.
However, I don’t recommend it for street riding, just like I don’t recommend most of these lightest BMX sprockets for street riding. (The Exceptions are Alienation Enterprise, Profile Imperial, and Stolen Sumo III sprockets.)
The 1/8″ rounded tooth profile also helps reduce wear, so it’ll last longer.
You’ll need to grab an adapter separately, but overall, this sprocket is definitely worth the price.
Weight: 2.3 oz
Price: $19.99 (may vary)
How To Make Your Light Sprocket Last Longer
Keep Your Chain Aligned & Tensioned
One of the best ways to extend your sprocket’s life is to ensure your chain is properly aligned and tensioned.
A misaligned chain can wear down the sprocket teeth much faster than normal.
Please take a minute to check that everything’s lined up straight and that your chain has the right tension for smooth riding.
Clean & Lubricate Your Chain Regularly
A clean and lubricated chain is crucial.
Dirt and rust can cause extra friction, which will wear your sprocket down quicker than you think.
Get into the habit of wiping down your chain and applying fresh lube every so often, especially if you’ve been riding in dusty or wet conditions.

Don’t neglect your sprocket.
Avoid Hitting Your Sprocket
This is a big one when it comes to light sprockets!
When riding, avoid direct impacts on your sprocket, like hitting curbs or ledges.
Lightweight sprockets are strong, but they’re not invincible.
If you’re doing tricks or grinding, be mindful of where your sprocket is to avoid bending or damaging the teeth.
In fact, I don’t recommend such a sprocket for street riding – in this case, pick up a guard BMX sprocket.
Check Your Chainring Bolts
Loose chainring bolts can cause your sprocket to wobble, leading to uneven wear.
Check your bolts regularly to ensure they are tight and secure. This is a quick and easy way to keep your sprocket in good shape.
And if it keeps getting loose too often, apply a little nail polish on the thread (a simple trick, but it works!).
