Cinema Reynolds Grips (2025 Review)

cinema reynolds bmx grips review

Are the Cinema Reynolds grips the first grips that already feel worn-in out of the box?

I mean, if it’s a Garrett Reynolds signature BMX grips, it should be worn in, right?

At least that’s how Garrett likes his grips best.

Before having signature grips, Garrett always rolled a fresh pair of grips on the ground first, just to remove that “first layer.”

I wonder if he still does that?

Likely not.

Anyway, enough of me blabbering, let’s move forward with the review.

Designed precisely to Reynolds’s specs, they combine comfort, grip, and control with a few clever details that take them to the next level.

If you ride long sessions or get sweaty hands, you’ll definitely appreciate what these grips offer.

Let’s dig deeper.

Cinema Reynolds Grips Review

1. Build & Features

cinema reynolds grips features

The Reynolds grips feature a thin spiral rib pattern that provides consistent traction without feeling too bulky.

At 30mm diameter, they fall into that sweet spot – not too thick, not too thin – making them great for all-around use.

However, I prefer grips that are 31mm or even 32mm in diameter.

But more often than not, the 30mm is really what the majority of riders prefer.

Moreover, here’s where this pair of grips gets clever: underneath the surface, six smaller horizontal ribs add extra stiffness and structure to the grip.

That keeps them from getting too squishy or slippery, especially during those sweaty moments.

The grips are also flangeless for a cleaner look and better barspin clearance.

And the expanding wedge-style bar ends (yup, just like the popular Odyssey Par ends) are a big upgrade over the usual press-in ones (I don’t like these at all!).

These stay put, even after some serious impact. Plus, I find them lasting much, MUCH longer.

2. How Reynolds Grips Ride

how cinema reynolds grips ride

The Cinema Reynolds grips feel natural and broken-in right out of the gate.

The 30mm diameter strikes a perfect middle ground, giving you a secure hold without feeling bulky.

Riders who prefer a more responsive and controlled grip setup will really appreciate how these feel during barspins, manuals, and long tech lines.

But during any street or park session in general.

The spiral rib pattern offers consistent traction in all conditions, and when your hands get sweaty, the hidden inner ribs make a noticeable difference.

They keep the grips from flexing too much or slipping, which adds confidence on hotter summer sessions.

You might even stop using baby powder on your hands.

If you’re picky about hand feel or tend to ride gloveless, these grips deliver comfort without sacrificing control.

Combine that with the long 155mm length, and you’ve got something that feels great for both street and park.

Note: I actually thought Garrett would go with a 150mm grip length because he runs his bars pretty narrow at 27.25″. But Garrett seems to like that the grips end at the bar’s bend. (This is just something I’m not a fan of, but that might be just me.)

3. Real Rider Feedback

  • Jake R.: “The grips feel pretty good. It only took 2 sessions to break them in. Also, the bar ends are great! They’ve stayed tight even after a few crashes.”
  • Tom K.: “Perfect length and thickness. I used to ride thicker grips but switched to these for better control. They’ve been solid so far.”
  • Matt D.: “I love that these don’t twist or get soft when wet. The internal ribbing actually helps.”
  • Leo G.: “They’ve got the right mix of grip and comfort. I didn’t expect to notice the internal ribs, but they definitely make a difference.”
