Check out my list of the best 2.3″ BMX tires, which are great for all types of riding, street, park and trails.
I’ve tried a lot of tires over the past 20+ years, and all I can say is that the right tire can make a massive difference.
I’ve also realized that 2.3″ tires hit the perfect sweet spot for most BMX riders.
And remember, if you run a wider rim, this tire spreads out more, so it “appears wider.”
All the tires I included below give you the grip, control and stability you need.
From tires perfect for low-pressure street riding to those designed for high-speed park sessions, I’ve got you covered.
Each tire has its own vibe, whether you’re looking for something lightweight or a more durable street option.
Let’s check them out!
This post covers:
Best 2.3″ BMX Tires
1. BSD Donnastreet Tire
The BSD Donnastreet tire is exactly what you need if you’re all about smooth, effortless rides.
Alex Donnachie nailed this design – it’s got a slick centerline for low rolling resistance and way more subtle side treads than the Donnasqueak.
But don’t worry, it’s still made from that super grippy, squeaky rubber compound we all love. Plus, it’s tough as nails, thanks to the tear-resistant silkworm casing.
With a max pressure of 110 psi, they’re perfect for dialing in your street setups.
Seriously, these tires are a game changer.
- Weight: 25.5oz (722g)
- Max pressure: 110 PSI
- Price: $32.99 (may vary)
2. Animal GLH Tire
Okay, the Animal Bikes GLH tires are the tires I rode for well over a decade.
First the 2.1″ version and then switched to the 2.3″.
This tire’s look, grip, durability – everything is epic. (I think I should place it first in this list!)
In short, these things are built to last!
The unique Animal tread pattern grips like a dream, and the extra knurling on the sides is perfect for enduring brutal grinds.
The dual-ply casing makes them super tough, so you won’t have to worry about blowing them out.
Seriously, these tires are a beast — exactly what you need to level up your ride.
I only wish they were also available in 2.4″ or even 2.5″.
- Weight: 28.1oz (796g)
- Max pressure: 110 PSI
- Price: $31.99 (may vary)
3. Shadow Serpent Tire
Do you need a light tire that won’t break the bank?
The Shadow Conspiracy Serpent tires are lightweight, which makes a huge difference for park and ramp sessions.
They have less rubber, so the rotating weight is lower, making your bike feel faster and more responsive.
Also, the micro-knurled tread grips like a champ, so you can really trust them completely.
While I know some dudes shred these on street, I don’t recommend them.
- Weight: 19.2oz (544g)
- Max pressure: 110 PSI
- Price: $35.99 (may vary)
4. Eclat Predator Tire
The Eclat Predator 2.3″ tires are everything you’d want for street riding.
Bruno Hoffmann’s signature design is sick, with a low profile and micro-knurled tread.
The horizontal and vertical grooves give a nice throwback vibe inspired by Bruno’s favorite old-school tires.
These are built tough with a 120 TPI casing and reinforced sidewalls, so you know they can take a beating on grinds.
Plus, the soft, tacky rubber makes them super grippy.
These tires are a must if you’re a Bruno fan and are hitting the streets.
- Weight: 23oz (652g)
- Max pressure: 100 PSI
- Price: $39.99 (may vary)
5. Maxxis Grifter Street Tire
The Maxxis Grifter tires are street-approved!
The tread pattern keeps you rolling fast, so you can keep that momentum going, and the high-volume casing seriously softens your landings.
Perfect for flat, park, street, or even vert. (They’re available in multiple widths.)
Moreover, the single compound design and the EXO layer on the sidewalls contribute to amazing durability.
Trust me, your setup will feel dialed with the Grifter tires.
- Weight: 18.9oz (537)
- Max pressure: 110 PSI
- Price: $39.00 (may vary)
6. Eclat Fireball Tire
The Eclat Fireball 2.3″ tires are absolute beasts for street riding.
The micro-knurled directional tread grips every surface, and the deep-cut grooves give you max control.
These things are built for abuse, with solid casing, a puncture-resistant nylon layer, and super tough high-pressure sidewalls that use “Pangolin” and “Cobweb” tech.
If you’re hitting the streets hard, these tires are exactly what you need.
- Weight: 26.7oz (756g)
- Max pressure: 100 PSI
- Price: $35.99 (may vary)
7. Haro MS5 Tire
I’m really impressed with the Haro MS-5 2.3″ tires because they’re solid and super affordable.
Less than $30 for two tires?!
However, there’s always a but.
But I don’t recommend these for heavy use and high PSI.
Also, they will run much longer if you use them on a wider rim, 36mm+.
But still, you’ll have plenty of fun with these, whether you enjoy street, park and even dirt.
The grip is amazing!
The MS-5 tires are an epic choice if you’re looking for budget-friendly ones.
Ideally, run these at around 50 PSI, and don’t go hard on them.
- Weight: /oz (/g)
- Max pressure: 65 PSI
- Price: $14.99 (may vary)
8. KHE MAC2+ Folding Tire
The KHE MAC2+ folding tires will take your park and ramp riding to an entirely new degree.
Weighing only 13.7 oz, these are hands down some of the lightest tires out there.
The kevlar folding bead and lightweight tread make such a difference – you can actually feel how much easier it is to whip your bike around in the air.
Plus, that crazy low rotational weight is way more noticeable than you’d think.
With a max pressure of 120 psi, these tires are meant for serious riding.
I know they are much pricier than the rest, but they are oh-so worth it.
- Weight: 13.7oz (388g)
- Max pressure: 120 PSI
- Price: $54.99 (may vary)
9. Fiction Hydra LP Tire
The Fiction Hydra LP 2.3″ tires are another affordable solution that works wonders.
The low-profile tread with the smooth center strip provides low rolling resistance, and the “Spark” technology adds a ton of traction.
Plus, they’re plenty squeaky – it’s almost too fun to roll around.
Fiction even added two different file patterns on the edges, giving you an additional grip when leaning into turns.
The casing is perfect for lower pressures, ideal for street sessions.
- Weight: 22.4oz (635g)
- Max pressure: 65 PSI
- Price: $22.99 (may vary)
10. GT Pool Tire
I heard many good things about the GT Pool 2.3″ tires – they’re a total vibe.
The micro-knurled, non-directional tread grips hard, making them easy to set up.
You don’t really need to worry about BMX tire direction.
The sidewalls are designed to release smoothly from grinds, so you’re ready for your next trick without a hitch.
And how sick is this (?!) – when the tires wear down, the color actually changes, so you know when it’s time for a fresh set!
The black/red and black/grey options look killer, too.
- Weight: 31.4oz (890g)
- Max pressure: 60 PSI
- Price: $30.00 (may vary)
How To Make Your 2.3″ BMX Tires Last Longer
Keep Your Tires Properly Inflated
One of the simplest ways to extend the life of your 2.3″ BMX tires is to keep them inflated to the right pressure.
Low tire pressure can cause more wear on the sidewalls and make you more prone to pinch flats.
Conversely, overinflating your tires can cause them to wear out faster and feel too harsh on landings.
Check the recommended PSI on your tire’s sidewall and keep the habit of regularly checking your tire pressure – and your tires will thank you!
Pro tip: If you want to ride low PSI, I recommend you get wider rims, such as 38mm or even 40mm.
Avoid Skidding
I get it; skidding can be fun, especially when messing around with friends.
But all that sliding shreds your tread way faster than normal riding.
If you want your tires to last longer, avoid excessive skidding and focus on smooth, controlled stops.
Watch Out for Rough Surfaces
The terrain you ride on can significantly impact the lifespan of your 2.3″ BMX tires.
While all the tires I’ve included in this list feature high-quality rubber compounds, riding over glass or jagged surfaces can still ruin them.
If there’s broken glass, I stop and carry my bike over it.
Your tires will hold up way better if you’re mindful about where you’re riding.
Rotate Your Tires
Rotating your BMX tires can help them wear more evenly.
If you notice the tread on your back tire is wearing down faster (which usually happens because it takes more abuse from landings), swap it with your front tire.
This simple switch can give you extra months of riding before you need a new set.
Keep Your Tires Clean
Okay, I know cleaning tires isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s worth it!
I don’t know how often a simple tire inspection helped me avoid flats – because tiny pieces of glass were in it.
But even just a quick wipe-down with a damp rag now and then can keep your tires in much better shape.
Store Your Bike Properly
Store your BMX bike somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight when you’re not riding.
Extreme heat and UV rays can break down the rubber in your tires, making them crack and wear out faster.
But even if it’s super cool, that’s a no-no for your tires, too.
Ideally, keep your bike indoors.
