Are you searching for an extensive Odyssey Clutch Pro freecoaster hub review?
The Odyssey Clutch Pro is the next evolution of the proven Odyssey Clutch V2 freecoaster that’s been around for some time.
Designed for street riders who demand precise slack adjustment, smoother backpedaling, and superior durability, this hub is packed with features that make freecoasting effortless.
And if you do a ton of crankflips, they’ll feel effortless with the Clutch Pro.
Odyssey Clutch Pro Freecoaster Hub Review
1. First Impressions Of The Clutch Pro Freecoaster
This freecoaster hub introduces a new tool-free external button for easy slack adjustments.
Riders can rotate the wheel forward or backward to fine-tune the amount of slack, making it super user-friendly.
Yes, just by pressing that tiny button.
How user-friendly does that sound? No tools, no problem!
What I also really like about the hub are the included hub guards.
The newly designed guards on both the drive and non-drive sides provide excellent spoke protection without requiring frame modifications.
Plus, I don’t find them wearing down as quickly as some other plastic guards do.
Good job, Odyssey!

Adjustability, smoothness, and durability are what set the Clutch Pro apart from its competition.
Whether you’re into crankflips, tech lines, or heavy grinds, this hub is built to handle it all.
The new convenient slack adjustment makes optimizing a breeze (which is also the biggest selling point), ensuring a hassle-free ride.
Here’s why I like about the Clutch Pro:
- Silky-smooth drag mechanism for effortless crankflips.
- Instant tool-free slack adjustment for quick fine-tuning.
- Enhanced bearing system for superior backpedaling control.
- Innovative hub guards that fit seamlessly without frame modifications.
- Grease port for easy maintenance and extended lifespan.
3. Real-World Clutch Pro Freecoaster Hub Performance
Riders who upgraded from the V2 to the Pro have noted that while both hubs perform exceptionally well, the Pro model offers even smoother operation and an improved user experience.
Plus, the Pro version, in my opinion, looks much better than the V2 version. Still, I hoped they would manage to make it slightly lighter.
Odyssey’s commitment to user-friendly maintenance makes this hub stand out from the competition.
But know that the Clutch Pro still performs like a freecoaster, not like the new planetary style hubs that are freecoasters but act similar to cassette hubs, which also means they are lighter.
However, if you like the freecoaster performance and “sound,” then the Clutch Pro will surely do the trick.
I know the price is higher, but it’s worth it.
Just too bad it’s also not backed by Odyssey’s lifetime warranty like many of their other parts are. I guess that’s because the Clutch Pro has too many components.
