How user-friendly does that sound?
No tools, no problem!
What I also really like about the hub are the included hub guards.
The newly designed guards on both the drive and non-drive sides provide excellent spoke protection without requiring frame modifications.
Plus, I don’t find them wearing down as quickly as some other plastic guards do.

Just too bad it’s also not backed by Odyssey’s lifetime warranty like many of their other parts are. I guess that’s because the Clutch Pro has too many components.

The Clutch Pro Freecoaster comes pre-set with maximum slack, but you can easily fine-tune it to your preference. Here’s how:
- Keep the wheel tightened to your frame dropouts — don’t remove it.
- Press the “SLACK” button until it fully engages with the grooves inside the hub’s internal slack adjuster.
- Turn the hub shell:
- Rotate in the “MINUS” (-) direction to reduce slack (less pedal movement before engagement).
- Rotate in the “PLUS” (+) direction to increase slack (more pedal movement before engagement).
- Make small adjustments — check the feel of the slack after each turn.
- If you notice drag while spinning the wheel, it means the adjuster has bottomed out on the non-drive side bearing or driver thread.
- Back off the adjuster slightly to remove any drag or resistance.
That’s it! Adjust slowly and test as you go until the slack feels perfect for your riding style — less for quicker engagement, more for relaxed fakies and smooth rollbacks.
